New Equipment For East London Rowers

The past 12 months the centre has seen a massive uptake in usage, and the trust has reinvested a lot of money with a new paint job and balcony repairs, damp proofing on the walls and a new hanging rail for Curlew RC to display some of their pictures. Not only that, the Trust awarded £1500.00 to the rowing clubs to hit out the gym with some new equipment.

Over £500 was spent on a new dumbbell rack, £650 on a squat cage, something the clubs have been wanting for ages and the rest was spent on additional weights and bars.

There was investment into women’s rowing too, with lighter bars and weights for ladies who have not “lifted” before.

TRC Support Local Yacht Club

TRC also lent its support to the Greenwich Yacht Club Cutter race on 6 May 2017.   The TRC was the “start line” for this traditional fixed seat rowing event, with crews rowing down river to finish at the Greenwich Yacht Club, some 2.6 miles away. The competition was open to mens, women and mixed crews in traditional boats with 6 oars, a cox and passenger.  Globe RC won the mixed crew event.

Busy Summer 2017

The Trafalgar Rowing Centre is experiencing it’s busiest summer on record, with the launch of a new social media platform. We are now on Twitter and Facebook, so next time you are down the “Traf” make sure you check in.

Another successful Tall Ships Festival, a great night was enjoyed on the Friday night of Tall Ships…a packed Traf Clubhouse watched a procession of tall ships gracefully sail down the Thames. It allowed many on the bank to relive old time or for the younger generations a chance peer back into the past to imagine what the Thames would have been like when Curlew RC was founded in 1866.

We have so many booking this summer, which is testament to the great work Tom and his team are doing, but fear not there are spaces available and Tom will do all he can to accommodate your wishes.

So please drop us a line and Tom will be in contact.

Yoga with Amanda @Traf

Having come to yoga to find a sense of balance, I am now a passionate Vinyasa Flow and Pregnancy Yoga teacher who shares my practice with the aim of inspiring and encouraging others to nourish themselves, find their sense of balance and live their yoga both on and off the mat. dscf9303

I undertook my yoga teacher training in the beautiful home of Yoga; Rishikesh, India in 2011 and undertook pregnancy yoga teacher training at Triyoga London in 2012.

My style of teaching is supportive and encouraging. Classes and workshops are adaptable to suit the needs of each practitioner, where beginners are welcomed and more practiced students are encouraged to go deeper into their practice and challenge themselves.

Vinyasa Flow classes are energizing and fun where my aim is to support students to focus on their breath, connect with themselves, stretch, strengthen and relax, leaving the session calm, refreshed and motivated  to bring this ease into other parts of their lives.dscf9322

Pregnancy yoga sessions incorporate traditional yoga postures with flowing movements and deep relaxation to build strength, create space and help prepare for birth and motherhood. Many women practice yoga for the first time during their pregnancy!

I was born in Canada, and moved to London over 10 years ago to work with some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK. Outside of my yoga practice, I work for a National Charity and volunteer with WYSE International, a youth leadership development charity.
